As a member of, and registered with, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within their Ethical Framework, which is based on principles of autonomy, respect, trustworthiness, avoiding harm to clients and promoting client's well-being. In order to achieve this, I participate in regular personal and professional development opportunities. As required, my work is regularly overseen by a qualified clinical supervisor which allows me to be the most effective counsellor for my clients.
I believe that each individual is the expert on themselves and their experiences. Sometimes it can be difficult to make sense of those experiences and may result in holding a person back. People seek counselling for a wide range of reasons; whatever your reasons, by allowing yourself some time and space to talk about them can help you to understand the cause and bring you some clarity. For you to be able to explore and understand the issues that you bring to each session I offer a warm, empathic and non-judgemental acceptance to all clients, which will allow a therapeutic and trusting relationship to develop.
